My Artistic Work
With the dance company Pionierinnen from Salon Emmer
At the Rothschild Garden in Vienna,
World premiere on Saturday, September 19, 2020
As part of the Wir.sind.Wien.Festival 2020, Basis.Kultur.Wien.
The eleven performers of Tanz Community Pionierinnen pool their energies to confront the burning questions of our time. They look to the future and the past to be able to act in the present and courageously face all challenges.
On the staircase of the main library in Vienna,
World premiere on Friday, June 7, 2019.
Skewed positions accompany us through our lives, make us wobble, and challenge us.
Eight pioneering women embark on a physical journey of discovery outside the vertical axis. They tell the story of a community that takes care of each other, even when one or the other goes askew.
At the Alte Ankerbrotfabrik in Vienna,
First performance on 13 June 2013
Artistic direction and choreography: Iva Rohlik
Together with 125 pupils of the elementary schools Laimäckergasse and Quellenstrasse, as well as children of the „Wohnpartner“, Schulkastraße 3, I developed the choreography „Together“.
At the Gasometer Halle in Vienna,
First performance on Friday, April 25, 2008, further performance on April 26, 2008
Together with Caritas, Kulturkontakt Austria and the initiative „Entscheidend bist DU!“ quertanzen brings together 130 young people from different social and cultural backgrounds and provides them with a stage.
Dance as a common language connects – across social, cultural and linguistic barriers. Students from the Polytechnic or the Fashion School Hetzendorf dance together with residents of the Don Bosco Refugee House.
At the New York Choreographic Institute
First performance on Friday, October 22, 2004
Choreography: Iva Rohlik
Music: John Cage
Dancers: Likolani Brown, Maya Collins, Giovanni Villalobos
Premiere on September 20, 2003, further performance on September 21, 2003; Halle 1030, Vienna
Choreography: Iva Rohlik
Music: Aaron Copland
Dancers: Shoko Nakamura, Eno Peci
In a silent moment, a couple strips away the influences of modern life to find love again. The intimacy and restraint of Copland’s composition inspired me to set the „quiet city“ in the soul life of the protagonists.
